About Polytan
At the time of disposal, Polytan was – as part of the Sport Group – a specialist provider of outdoor sports surface systems. The company developed, produced and installed artificial turf and synthetic tracks. It was one of the global market leaders in the artificial turf system segment for amateur and professional sports.
The strategy
It was the management’s strategy, together with the German Equity Partners II fund, to further pursue the successful growth – especially in the artificial turf segment – and internationalisation. After the successful implementation of the ownership succession, the company was established as the leading artificial turf system provider in Europe by the consequent expansion of its activities abroad. In 2006, Polytan was integrated with PolyComp to establish the so-called Sport Group, creating a uniquely integrated system provider for artificial sport turf. The Sport Group was sold as part of a secondary buyout to Industri Kapital.
