We have been successful as an investor in medium-sized businesses since 1995. We have always pursued a consistent investment strategy: as a specialist for changes to the shareholder structure, we invest when companies are at a milestone in their development. For the next development phase, we contribute our experience from over 50 investments and acquisitions.
We think and act entrepreneurially – at ECM and in the partnership with the respective management teams. We also invest personally in each individual company. Our goal is to position companies for sustainable success. We act quickly and pragmatically and are independent of external bodies. We have been very successful with this approach for over 25 years – for our portfolio companies, their employees and our investors.
Working in partnership with management teams is the core element of our philosophy. The operational responsibility always remains with management. We take the role as an active sparring partner and contribute our broad functional know-how (Value Impact Program (VIP)), our network and, if required, additional capital.

Based on our long-standing experience and numerous investments, we have developed the ECM Value Impact Program (VIP), which comprises the depicted development areas. Resting on this program, a customized strategic plan for the further development of the respective investment is developed jointly with the management team.
Our focus is on majority investments in medium-sized enterprises with further development and growth potential in the GAS region. We invest across all industries in attractive business models with sustainable competitive advantages and strong market positions. We are looking for motivated, skilled and entrepreneurial management teams.
Since 1995, we successfully raised five funds and invested into more than 50 companies. The funds German Equity Partners (GEP) I-III are fully realized. We are currently investing the fifth fund generation (GEP V) with equity commitments of €325 million.
The funds managed by ECM have a diversified investor base with a long-term investment horizon. All investment decisions are made exclusively by us. We have trustful relationships with our investors and some have been working with us for decades. Our investors include pension funds, insurance companies and family offices. Since 2018, we are investing our fifth fund (GEP V) with equity commitments of €325 million.
